To contrast my page on eclectic and colorful bedrooms, here's one filled with ideas on creating monochromatic bedrooms. I personally admire both styles, but I feel this is for someone who wants to be in a serene and soothing place to rest. In this color scheme, all the tones, tints, and shades of a particular color or hue are used without introducing any other color.
You can easily end up with a boring monochromatic room if shades, textures, and patterns of the same color are not mixed well. You have to add depth and interest without bringing in a contrasting color and balance the room with neutrals like white, natural wood, glass, or grey as needed. Different shades of the same hue should be visible but not too noticeable. Trick is to gradually increase the shade within the room. With endless colors to pick -- go with a mild or bold color to get the look you want. You should also consider who will be using this room - yourself, a guest, children, or teens, how much natural light this room gets, ceiling height, and how big it is. In general, lighter colors work well in a bedroom.
Well, with all these tips.. I've got a few different color shades here. I'd love to know your favorite pick and whether this would be something you would consider for your bedroom! Look forward to your comments!
